Brad Skertich Auperintendent | Collinsville Community Unit School District 10
During the summer, schools in the district are undergoing significant maintenance and improvements. Despite the absence of students, custodians, maintenance crews, and contractors are actively preparing for their return in August. The focus is on deep cleaning, maintenance, and scheduled building upgrades.
The eleven-week summer break is utilized to prepare for the new school year and complete necessary facility enhancements. This year marks the beginning of projects related to the March 2024 Ballot Initiative. These projects aim to improve safety, update heating and cooling systems, and enhance accessibility across schools.
Superintendent Mark B. Skertich emphasized that there will be no downtime this summer as work progresses on these initiatives. Improvements will occur at several buildings: Dorris Intermediate will have door replacements; Renfro Elementary will receive HVAC upgrades; Webster Elementary will undergo both HVAC upgrades and door replacements.
While some changes may be immediately visible, others like improved efficiency might not be noticeable to students or staff. Superintendent Skertich stressed the importance of keeping the community informed about progress related to the Ballot Initiative throughout each school year.
Mark B. Skertich concluded by thanking everyone for their dedication to students and encouraged showing Kahok Pride.
