Lake Forest Schools have announced that Congressman Brad Schneider's office will host a Service Academy Information Night on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The event will take place at New Trier High School in Northfield.

According to Lake Forest Schools, the Service Academy Information Night is designed for high school students and families interested in applying to U.S. military service academies. Representatives from each academy will provide details on their programs, admissions requirements, and the congressional nomination process. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with academy officials. The event is open to students, parents, guidance counselors, and school staff. RSVP is required through Eventbrite.

Members of Congress can nominate candidates for several U.S. military academies including the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point. However, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a nomination. Students must apply via Congressman Brad Schneider’s application portal and submit various documents including a photo, personal letter, high school transcript, ACT or SAT scores, three recommendations, and a signed authorization form if under 18.

Lake Forest High School was established in 1935 as a public secondary school in Lake Forest, Illinois serving grades 9–12. Lake Forest Community High School District 115 serves around 1,500 students from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood in grades 9–12. The district offers diverse academic programs and extracurricular activities including advanced placement courses and specialized electives.
