Collinsville High seeks votes for chance at $5,000 IHSA athletic grant

Collinsville High School is seeking support from the community to win a $5,000 grant through an Illinois High School Association (IHSA) contest sponsored by COUNTRY Financial. The contest, called the Sport Your School Giveaway, will award one IHSA high school athletic department with funds intended to benefit student-athletes.

The initiative marks the 50th year of partnership between COUNTRY Financial and the IHSA. According to the announcement, anyone can nominate Collinsville High School by using a provided link. "Kahok Nation: YOU have an opportunity to help Collinsville High School win $5,000 from an Illinois High School Association (IHSA) contest sponsored by COUNTRY Financial," states the release. "All you have to do us use THIS LINK to nominate Collinsville High School." The message encourages community participation: "Let's show Illinois how much our community supports Kahok Athletics!"

Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 serves both Madison and St. Clair counties and includes several schools such as Caseyville Elementary, Collinsville Middle School, Dorris Intermediate School, and others alongside Collinsville High School. According to data from the Illinois State Board of Education, the district employs 418 teachers with an average salary of $60,392 before pension contributions; 81 percent are women and 19 percent are men. The district reports no teachers with more than ten absences in a school year.
