Lake Forest Community High School District 115 recently held its Veterans Day assembly in collaboration with American Legion Post 264. The event aimed to honor the service and sacrifice of local veterans.

According to the district, highlights from the assembly included student performances and the recognition of local veterans for their service and contributions. The district expressed gratitude towards students, staff, families, and veteran guests for their participation and support of the annual event.

The American Legion, established by Congress in 1919, is recognized as the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization. It supports veterans, mentors youth, promotes community programs, encourages patriotism, and advocates for national security. McKinlock Post 264 was chartered in the same year and welcomes veterans from all branches of the armed forces. According to its website, it provides opportunities for continued service to God, country, and community while advancing its mission of supporting the nation, families, and fellow servicemembers.

Lake Forest Elementary School District 67 serves approximately 1,600 students from Pre-K through grade 8. The district includes three elementary schools—Cherokee Elementary (K-4), Everett Elementary (K-4), and Sheridan Elementary (Pre-K-4)—as well as Deer Path Middle School (5-8). Known for innovative instructional practices, District 67 emphasizes inclusive education and personalized learning experiences that support academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development. Lake Forest Schools state that their mission is to inspire and empower students to maximize growth while cultivating respect for others in a dynamic and safe learning environment.

Lake Forest Community High School District 115 serves about 1,500 students in grades 9–12 from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood. The district offers a comprehensive curriculum with advanced placement courses, electives, athletics, performing arts programs, clubs, and career pathways while emphasizing social-emotional growth and community service. More than 95% of students pursue higher education after graduation. Feeder schools include Deer Path Middle School, Lake Bluff Middle School as well as local private and parochial schools. According to Lake Forest Schools, Districts 115 and 67 share services such as administration, finance, human resources technology services along with special education initiatives to improve efficiency while reducing costs.
