Ashley Schlabowske, a native of Grayslake, Illinois and Physical Education major, is part of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women’s basketball team as they prepare to host the first two rounds of the 2026 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship. The games will take place Friday and Saturday, March 6-7, at Kachel Gym.
This marks the sixth consecutive year that UW-Whitewater has hosted the opening rounds of the national tournament. The Warhawks, holding a 19-8 record this season, received an at-large bid and are making their tenth straight and seventeenth overall appearance in the NCAA Championship under Head Coach Keri Carollo. The team is ranked tenth in the final NCAA Power Index (NPI) list and has a 39-23 record across 23 total postseason appearances.
UW-Whitewater will face Transylvania University (24-4) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Transylvania secured its spot in the championship by winning its eighth consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament title. The Pioneers are ranked forty-fourth in the NPI and are making their seventh straight postseason appearance.
The regional opener on Friday will feature a matchup between the University of Chicago and Gustavus Adolphus College at 4:45 p.m. Winners from Friday’s games will advance to play in the regional final scheduled for Saturday evening at Kachel Gym.
