West Elementary hosts PBIS celebration with student-led activities

West Elementary held its second Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) celebration on Friday afternoon. Students were able to use their “Cat Cash” to participate in activities such as making snow globes, beading, and playing games in the gymnasium.

West Elementary is one of several schools within Zion Elementary School District 6, which serves Lake County. Other schools in the district include Beulah Park Elementary School, East Elementary School, Elmwood Elementary School, Lakeview School, Shiloh Park Elementary School, and Zion Central Middle School. According to the Illinois State Board of Education, Zion Elementary School District 6 employs 164 teachers with an average salary of $58,629 before pension contributions. The teaching staff is composed of 83.3 percent women and 16.7 percent men. No teacher in the district has more than ten absences in a school year.
