In December, middle school students from Zion Elementary School District 6 (ZESD 6) participated in a community outreach effort by delivering 153 Blessing Bags to residents at The Grove at the Lake in Zion. The initiative involved Youth Leadership Teams from Zion Central Middle School (ZCMS) and Shiloh Park Elementary School.

The Blessing Bags contained hand-decorated ornaments made by members of the Youth Leadership Teams and several student clubs, including ZCMS Student Council, ZCMS Sisterhood, ZCMS Zealous Creations, and ZCMS Yearbook. Additionally, handmade crocheted soap savers were donated by Dr. Eva Lyon and local community members.

The event was described as being met with “smiles and heartfelt gratitude,” according to those involved. Organizers also extended “a special thanks goes to Mr. McLaren for bringing this meaningful opportunity to the Youth Leadership Teams.”
