Fremont Board of Town Trustees met September 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

1. Call to Order and Pledge

Trustee Shanahan called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

2. Roll Call

Board Members Present-

Trustee Atleson, Trustee Forman, Trustee Shanahan, Trustee Voss. Absent: Supervisor O’Kelly

Elected Officials Present-

Clerk Mccann, Hwy. Commissioner Grinnell

Others Present-

Rose Marie Domeny, Judy Hammel, Pat Stejskal

3. Public Comments

None

4. Approval of Minutes

• Trustee Forman moved and Trustee Voss seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the August 14, 2017 Regular Board Meeting. All in favor, motion carried.

8. Parks Report

No Report

9. CERT Report

CERT Team Leader Pat Stejskal reported on the following:

• On Saturday, August 26, “CERT Presents” won the 2017 Geo Award for “Outstanding Informative Talk.” Congratulations to Lou Bruno, producer/co-host and co-hosts: Mary Beatman, Terry Cox, Jill Hughes, and Anne Walker. The CERT radio show is heard from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday nights on WRLR 98.3 FM. Participation with this station gives Fremont CERT the opportunity to get lifesaving information to the community in emergency situations.

Upcoming Event Dates:

• Saturday, September 30 – Help with Recycling Event—have 6 volunteers to date

• Sunday, October 8--Countryside Fire Open House

• Sunday, October 15--Grayslake Fire Open House

• Monday, November 6, 2017 at 7:00pm at the Fremont Public Library CERT has a Public Information session on the response by local CERT's to the summer flooding and what residents can do to prepare for a flood emergency.

10. Community Garden Report

Trustee Jeri Atleson reported on the following:

• Harvesting and garden maintenance continue on Tuesdays and Sundays

• Residents in need continue to be provided with produce from the garden

• Many school and home schooling groups are contributing volunteers

• A water feature is being planned for the garden

11. Elected Officials’ Report

Assessor – No Report

Clerk-

Clerk McCann reported on the following:

• Responded to and granted a FOIA request from Smart Procure Inc. for vendor payments from April 22 to August 22

• Preliminary discussions for the 2017 Levy will begin in October, board must determine the Levy amount at the November 6, 2017 Regular Meeting, and adopt the Town and Road District Levy at the December 11, 2017 Meeting

• TOI 2017 Laws and Duties Handbooks have been distributed to board members

Highway Commissioner-

Highway Commissioner Grinnell reported on the following:

• Attended TOI Summer Conference for Highway Commissioners in Peoria

• Highway crew are finishing up summer work and patching roads in the district

• On October 2nd, the Highway Commissioner and crew will bring trucks to Fremont School for a “Touch a Truck” event

Supervisor – No Report

Trustees

• Trustee Jeri Atleson enjoyed attending the WRLR Geo Awards ceremony

12. GA/EA/Food Pantry Report

The following statistics were reported for the month of August2017:

• Four (4) residents received General Assistance without medical

• Three (3) residents received Emergency Assistance

• Seventy-nine (79) residents received food pantry assistance

• August Taxi Coupon use not yet reported

• Six (6) residents submitted RTA pass applications

• Two (2) residents applied for Benefit Access

• Twenty (20) residents participated in the Diaper Bank

13. Public Comments

None

14. Approval of Bills

• Trustee Forman moved and Trustee Voss seconded the motion to audit and approve for payment of Road and Bridge Fund in the amount of $3831.12 Permanent Road Fund in the amount of $186,064.87, and General Town Fund in the amount of $76,090.81. All in favor, motion carried.

Roll Call: Aye: Trustee Atleson, Trustee Forman, Trustee Shanahan, Trustee Voss. All in favor, motion carried.

• Trustee Forman moved and Trustee Atleson seconded the motion to audit and approve for payment of General Assistance Fund in the amount of $5,958.03 All in favor, motion carried.

15. Executive Session

None

16. Adjourn

• Trustee Atleson moved and Trustee Forman seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:16 p.m. All in favor, motion carried.
