Lake Forest holds community forum

Lakeforest300

The city of Lake Forest, Illinois held the latest in its series of community forums on Wednesday.

The forums are designed to give residents the chance to get involved in community issues, as well as to stimulate positive debates and conversations.

Led by Third Ward Alderman Jack Heisenberg, Wednesday's forum focused on sustainability planning and included discussions led by representatives from the Lake Forest Collaborative for Environmental Leadership (LFCEL), as well from the city of Lake Forest, Lake Forest College, Lake Forest School Districts and Lake Forest Open Lands Association.

One of the goals of Lake Forest's 2013-2018 Strategic Plan was to “develop a Lake Forest Sustainability Plan to identify priorities and guide future initiatives.”

In keeping with that goal, the community forum discussions focused on stormwater management and water use; ecosystem vitality and ravine conservation; waste management; renewable energy and energy efficiency and air quality.

No executive decisions were made at the forum. Its purpose was to simply collectively develop an enhanced clarity of each issue.
