The Lake County legal system again will participate in a Veterans Day oral-history project honoring the contributions of local veterans.
The Library of Congress' Veterans' History Project collects and archives the stories of veterans for use by researchers and others looking for a candid, first-hand glimpse into the experiences of former servicemembers.
On Nov. 11 the Lake County Courthouse will welcome approximately 30 local veterans of three different wars to share their stories for the project. Lake County lawyers will conduct the interviews, and local court reporters will transcribe them.
“The Veterans' History Project focuses attention on the veterans who served their country," local attorney and Vietnam War veteran Tom Sbertoli said. "I am proud to volunteer with these patriots, who are ordinary men and women who gave up a lot to help when help was needed. The entire county should be proud of this event.”
The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at the Circuit Court of Cook County, located at 50 W. Washington St. in Chicago.
