Lake County's Planning and Restoration Committee recently approved a revised concept plan for the Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve, District 13 board member Sandra Hart said.
The revised plan was based on public feedback and on-site surveys of several potential parking lot locations. Project staff monitored three parking lots four times per day every day from March 17 to August 17. Their research found that the preserve would need 65 parking spaces to use the space most efficiently. The revised plan settles for 45 spaces at the existing parking lot on Gilgare Lane.
The county will now move on to drafting a final master plan and cost estimates for the preserve, Hart said.
