The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has announced that, following a detailed investigation, Jordan Ricks and Asia Ricks have been charged with obstruction of justice for providing false information to deputies after a fatal crash in Beach Park.

Lake County crash investigators concluded that siblings Jordan Ricks, 29, and Asia Ricks, 23, gave false statements to deputies following a fatal October 2024 crash in Beach Park. This resulted in obstruction of justice charges. Jordan initially claimed he was driving the Kia at the time of the collision, while Asia said she was a passenger. However, her injuries and evidence from inside the vehicle did not match her account. Investigators ultimately determined that Jordan was not in the vehicle at all and arrived at the scene after the crash occurred.

According to authorities, the siblings are believed to have fabricated their story to shield Asia from legal consequences, as she was likely under the influence of alcohol during the incident. Investigators consulted the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, which approved charges. A grand jury returned a true bill of indictment on July 23, 2025, and a warrant was issued. Both individuals turned themselves in on July 28 and appeared in court. Their arraignment is scheduled for August 28.

The charges stem from an October 18, 2024 crash at Green Bay Road and Aviation Drive. The incident involved a speeding motorcycle that collided with a Kia Rio while making a turn. The 56-year-old motorcyclist from Beach Park died at the scene, while the Kia’s occupants reported no injuries.
