The Lake County Sheriff's Office is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a fatal hit-and-run that occurred Oct. 12 in unincorporated Prairie View.
Sheriff's deputies responding to a call found James A. Spicak, 68, unresponsive in a ditch along the side of West Pope Blvd. at approximately 11 p.m. An investigation revealed Spicak was hit near his mailbox, allegedly by someone headed west out of the Horatio Gardens subdivision. He was taken to Condell Hospital, where he died soon afterward.
The Sheriff's Office has not identified a suspect, and the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the Sheriff's Office at 847-549-5200 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at 847-662-2222.
