The City of Highland Park has outlined various communication methods to keep residents informed about capital improvement projects (CIP). These methods include public information meetings, the city's website and interactive CIP StoryMap, city eNews, social media platforms, project-specific emails, and postal mail notifications.
The 2025 CIP StoryMap provides an interactive platform for exploring projects in different stages of development or implementation. Each project includes a description, map, and primary contact within the city. The list is tentative and may change based on City Council approval and funding availability. Projects managed by IDOT within the city are also included with summaries and anticipated community impacts.
Large-scale projects may have dedicated websites or mailing lists promoted through the city's eNews. Once construction begins, updates are available via on-site signage, digital message boards, door tags at nearby properties if necessary, and digital kiosks in Downtown Highland Park.
Sister governments and community partners receive notifications about projects that might affect them or their constituents. The city hosts quarterly meetings with chief elected and appointed officials to foster collaboration.
Regular updates on public infrastructure CIP projects for 2025 can be found on the city's interactive construction StoryMap at cityhpil.com/construction. For more information on construction projects, contact the Department of Public Works at 847-432-0807.
