The Lake County Division of Transportation opened a new roundabout late last week at River and Roberts Roads in Lake Barrington, Lake County's fifth roundabout.
It's also the county's first multi-lane roundabout.
Lake County transportation officials have been studying traffic patterns at Roberts and River Roads since 2008, when the intersection began seeing up to 20,000 vehicles daily, with heavy congestion.
A roundabout was chosen as the safest and most efficient option to regulate traffic flow, county officials said.
