Road grinding on several Highwood streets began late last week.
City officials released a corrected construction schedule after originally announcing work would start on Monday.
The affected roads include portions of High Street from Prairie to Michigan, Evolution from Prairie to Highwood, Sard and Lockard, adjacent to North Avenue.
The city is asking residents to avoid parking on the street in any of the construction areas to make sure crews can move efficiently and get the job done as soon as possible.
The city also cautioned residents that additional schedule changes may be required as the project proceeds.
After grinding, which was expected to be completed over the weekend, road paving was set to begin on Monday.
