We are pleased to announce that Dr. Theresa Dunkin has been appointed Interim Principal of Laura B. Sprague School for the 2025–2026 school year.

Dr. Dunkin brings more than 35 years of experience in public education, including extensive leadership in both school and district roles. Her background includes serving as Superintendent of Aptakisic-Tripp School District 102 for seven years, as well as leadership positions as an assistant superintendent, junior high principal, and elementary principal. Most recently, Dr. Dunkin has served as an interim administrator and strategic consultant, supporting school districts across Illinois with leadership transitions, community engagement, and organizational development.

Dr. Dunkin is a collaborative and compassionate leader who understands the needs of students, families, and educators. Her deep experience and steady presence will provide continuity and support for the Sprague community during this transitional year.

Dr. Dunkin is known for her teacher-centered approach, her strong commitment to student success, and her ability to build cohesive, inclusive school cultures. Dr. Dunkin will work part time as she is a retired administrator and is limited to 120 days during a school year by the State of Illinois. Sprague will be supported by district administration to ensure the school has sufficient resources and guidance. Dr. Dunkin will begin her role at Sprague this summer and will serve throughout the 2025–2026 school year while the district conducts a comprehensive search for the school’s next permanent principal.

Dr. Dunkin replaces Ann Hofmeier who resigned at the end of the last school year to transition into a new role at another educational facility.
