The Lake County Board of Health will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at its offices in Conference Room 3112, 3010 Grand Ave., in Waukegan.
The board will hear a presentation on the Behavioral Health Community Action Plan. The county is currently accepting proposals for the plan until Nov. 20. The goal is to create a plan for a community-supported system for identifying and providing support for behavioral health needs in the northern part of the county. The county said it is also interested in identifying and addressing the systemic details that create gaps between service providers and those who need their services.
The county has asked applicants to follow a list of criteria in their proposals, including the establishment of a dedicated behavioral health task force and committees. The proposals are also required to include feedback on behavioral health needs and challenges from community members.
The board also will consider increasing the fees for hearing and vision screenings and county-sponsored nicotine-replacement therapy.
