The Lake County Forest Preserve recently announced several new promotions to encourage Lake County residents to visit the preserve.
The covered shelters and open areas are available for reservations for family gatherings and other events. Reservations can be made at lcfpd.org/shelters and are first come, first serve. County officials encourage residents to book early to ensure their preferred choices.
The county is also offering golf gift cards as a novel holiday gift. The cards are redeemable at Lake County Forest Preserve golf clubs Brae Loch in Grayslake, Countryside in Mundelein and ThunderHawk in Beach Park.
The cards are available in increments from $25 to $200. There are no service fees and the cards never expire. The cards are available on the Forest Preserve website, at the Forest Preserve General Offices or over the phone at 847-968-3100.
The Lake County Forest Preserve is the second-largest Forest Preserve District in Illinois, with 30,300 protected acres. It was created by the state as a government entity in 1958 to conserve open spaces in a way that also creates opportunities for outdoor recreation and relaxation.
