Candycorn

The Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum will host a talk Saturday on the history of the Goelitz family, the inventors of candy corn and jelly beans.

The talk will be given by Ty Rohrer, executive director of the Chicago Foodways Roundtable (CFR), which is a sister program of Culinary Historians of Chicago that coordinates programs connecting people with local food and drink history.

After the talk, participants can go on a tour of the Heritage Center's new exhibit, called "Food, Family and Tradition: Dining in Grayslake." The exhibit features stories, photos and other memorabilia from Grayslake food business owners past and present.

An optional pizza lunch can be purchased for $5.

The presentation is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Reservations can be made on the phone at 847-432-8255 or via e-mail at chicago.foodways.roundtable@gmail.com.
