The City of Highwood will begin a nine day sewer lining project on Wednesday.
The project, executed by Visu-Sewer, Inc., is meant to prolong the life of the system, saving the city from having to make a full replacement of the sewer in the near future.
The project will run until Dec. 18 and will focus on pipelines running under Highwood Avenue, North Avenue and part of Pleasant Avenue.
City officials are advising nearby residents to limit their use of washing machines, dishwashers, bath tubs, showers and sinks. They are also asking residents to only use toilets when necessary.
As the project moves along, officials will temporarily shut off sewer service, raising the risk of backups for anyone who attempts to use any of the above appliances during those times.
Each day of work will last approximately six to eight hours. Visu-Sewer will give residents an orange notice 24 hours ahead for any interruptions in service.
Those with additional questions about the project should call City Hall.
