The Lake Forest Public Works Committee approved the Regency Lane Sanitary Sewer Installation Contracts and Established Ordinance at its Oct. 5 meeting.
The city awarded the contract to R.A. Mancini at $665,727, the lowest of the three bids received. In an effort to save costs, it also offered contract work to Perez Landscaping for grass restoration in the amount of $6,720 and Peter Baker & Sons for asphalt resurfacing in the amount of $46,142.
Finally, a 10 percent ($71,859) non-contractor specific amount was approved to cover any overages from the three companies or other unforeseen issues. The SSA tax revenue will cover the costs of the work. The resolution passed the committee unanimously. Work was set to begin on Oct. 19 once final approval came from the board of trustees.
In the same meeting, the committee unanimously approved to engage the services of Alfred Benesch & Company and their sub-contractor Legat Architects to complete improvements on the interior of the East Side Train Station. After whittling down the applicants for the job to two, Alfred Benesch & Company was chosen because of their experience working on Metra train stations, specifically with ADA compliance and interior build-outs.
