Lindenhurst Village Board to take up Lake Michigan water issues

Lindenhurst village trustees are slated to discuss issues related to obtaining water from Lake Michigan at the Village Board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in Village Hall, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road.

New business to be discussed also includes several resolutions and ordinances pertaining to fund transfers regarding a bike path, alternate bond revenue sources and two specific property tax abatements. 

Also, Phil Gaughran will be honored for 10 years of service to the village. 

Trustees will discuss a restated memorandum of understanding regarding the Northern Lake County Lake Michigan Water Planning Group and efforts to switch to using Lake Michigan as a water supply. 

Trustees will be discussing the intent to award bids involving Lake Michigan water system improvement, one for internal system improvements and the other for a reservoir and water connection facility.

A multiyear contract for communication services also is on the agenda. 

Miscellaneous amendments to the village employee handbook will be addressed as well as a change in financial institutions a funding allocation for a 50/50 tree program.
