Lake County Housing and Community Development Commission is slated to meet at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 10th floor Assembly Room at the county Courthouse and Administrative Complex, 18 N. County St., in Waukegan.
Directly following roll call and approval of Nov. 18, 2015, minutes, the chair will present remarks. The floor will then be open for public commentary for any items not listed on the agenda, followed by discussion of old business.
Initial funding recommendations regarding the Commission’s 2016 Housing & Community Development Action Plan will headline new business along with a public hearing specifically related to the Action Plan.
Low- and- moderate-income jobs will receive attention based on a proposal from the Public Improvements Advisory and Recommendation Committee (ARC). Its suggestion is to invest $118,000 of CDBG 2016 funding into a pilot program for job creation and retention.
A local chamber with business loan and facade improvement expertise (Black Chamber of Commerce) will deliver a presentation and discussion will relate to funds approved in 2015 for Lake County Workforce Development to match low-income workers with manufacturing positions.
