March 15 brings elections in the city of Highwood, and citizens are encouraged to check whether they are able to vote ahead of time.
The Lake County Clerk’s office suggests that any citizens who are eligible to vote but not yet currently registered can register in person at Highwood City Hall at 17 Highwood Ave. Alternatively, residents can visit the County Clerk’s website to check on their status.
Likewise, options for early voting, voting by mail or curbside voting are available. Lake County voters can vote as early as 15 days before the regular election until the Saturday just before Election Day.
To vote by mail, citizens can request an application via mail or online; and voters requiring physical assistance are asked to notify the County Clerk’s office at least one day ahead of time by calling 847-377-2406.
Provisional voting is also possible as long as proper documentation is provided within seven days after Election Day and hand delivered to the Clerk’s Office at 18 N. County St. Questions regarding provisional voting may be phoned in to Debra Nieto at 847-377-2310.
Finally, voting sites are based on residents’ precinct numbers and should be listed on voters’ registration cards.
All polling sites are handicap-accessible and will be open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Election Day.
