High unemployment and taxes plus poor credit spurred Illinois State Senate candidate Dan McConchie to take a stand following President Barack Obama’s address to the legislature Wednesday in Springfield.
“It’s the Democrats who have so far refused to come to the table with the governor,” McConchie said. "Our state has the highest unemployment rate in the Midwest, the lowest credit rating in the nation and the second-highest property taxes. What we need are structural changes in order to provide the stability to get the state back on track.”
Running for a seat to represent the state’s 26th District, McConchie called out Mike Madigan, speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives and chairman of the Democratic Party of Illinois, as well as others in charge.
“Democrats have put their political interests ahead of the needs of our families by refusing to compromise with Governor [Bruce] Rauner on reforms that would save our state,” McConchie said. “I’m going to Springfield to take on this do-nothing legislature and support Governor Rauner’s reforms like redistricting that even President Obama championed today.”
McConchie is campaigning to serve Illinois’ 26th Senate District, comprising close to 20 northwest Chicago suburbs.
