Rod Drobinski, the Republican candidate for the state House District 62 seat in Lake County, voiced his support for Gov. Bruce Rauner's new plan to balance the state budget, which Rauner unveiled in an address on Wednesday.

"Today, Gov. Rauner proposed a path to a balanced budget that features reform and responsibility at its core," Drobinski said. "The reforms he proposed are absolutely necessary to grow our economy, attract businesses and jobs to our state, and improve the quality of life for Illinoisans."

Rauner's budget address, delivered at the state Capitol, emphasized the need to work together, but also emphasized that Rauner would take control himself if necessary. The speech included promises on pension reform and funding for education.

Drobinski echoed his support of where funding was needed in the budget, as outlined by Rauner.

"The spending in his budget reflects our priorities: education for our children, social services for the truly vulnerable, and infrastructure investment for transportation that businesses and our families depend on," Drobinski said.

Drobinski also expressed a willingness to reach across the aisle if needed.

"I’m running for office to work with the governor and well-intentioned Democrats to reform Illinois and lead on issues to protect and empower the families of Illinois," Drobinski said.
