Addressing alcohol, asphalt and appearance codes, members of the Highwood City Council gathered at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 17 Highwood Ave., for its regular meeting.
As well as approving warrants and minutes from two previous meetings with the regular City Council and the Committee of the Whole on Feb. 16, the council considered an ordinance amending Title 4, Chapter 1, “Alcoholic Beverages” of the Highwood Municipal Code.
Also on the table was one motion to reject bids previously received for a 2016 Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) pavement-patching project. The council considered awarding a bid for street light maintenance and accepting membership in the Northern Illinois Health Insurance Initiative (NIHII), a member of the Intergovernmental Personnel Benefit Cooperative.
Additionally, Vape312, a retail business located at 502 Sheridan Road, requested a variation from both the Highwood Appearance Code and the Highwood Zoning Code.
Council members discussed a motion to award a bid for street light maintenance in Highwood and a resolution accepting membership in the Northern Illinois Health Insurance Initiative (“NIHII”) sub-pool, which is associated with the Intergovernmental Personnel Benefit Cooperative.
Mayor Charlie Pecaro was scheduled to announce appointments, and the city’s clerk, treasurer and various committees were slated to present reports prior to executive session and adjournment.
