Dan McConchie has won the Republican nomination to replace Dan Duffy in Illinois Senate District 26.
The 26th Senate District includes Long Grove, Crystal Lake, Algonquin, Oakwood Hills, Hoffman Estates, Libertyville, Cary, Island Lake, Deer Park, Green Oaks, Kildeer, Carpentersville, Lake in the Hills, Fox River Grove, Vernon Hills, Barrington, Hawthorn Woods, Mundelein and Lake Zurich.
Duffy said Wednesday that he stepping down as state senator next month to join Prevent Child Abuse America as its president and CEO. The nonprofit is dedicated to ending child abuse and neglect throughout the United States. It promotes services and programs intended to improve the well-being of children, as well as prevent all forms of abuse and neglect.
"I am honored to have earned the trust of the Republican primary voters of the 26th District," McConchie said. "I look forward to the chance to represent them with the same integrity and commitment to the people that Senator Duffy demonstrated over the past eight years. I look forward to going to Springfield and taking on the Democratic machine that is so abusive to the people of our beloved state."
