Lake Zurich’s village board meeting 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 21 focused on a rare triple-digit birthday and the swearing in of fire personnel.
To recognize Lake Zurich resident Mary Pokryfke on the occasion of her 100th birthday, the village issued a special proclamation in her honor.
Additionally, Deputy Fire Chief Rick Johnson and Fire Lieutenant Jeff Ritchie were both officially sworn in to their positions with oaths of office administered.
In accordance with the board’s consent agenda, members approved minutes from previous meetings, released prior executive session minutes and reviewed a pair of pending ordinances concerning a liquor license for Irene’s Café and a related regulation for the same business clarifying the total number of liquor licenses permissible for the village.
Pending matters included approving maintenance decisions on sanitary transmission lines. The proposal would provide for a 1,700-foot extension of the main lining. The board approved increasing the budget for the project to a maximum of $3,382,456.
Various village trustees, the village manager and attorney and department heads reported updates. The meeting adjourned following an executive session.
