Illinois is on a path to fiscal ruin and it is high time for a new direction, according to Rod Drobinski, Republican candidate for the state House 62nd District seat.

“From now until November, we're going to focus on getting that message out to the voters,” Drobinski recently told the Lake County Gazette. “We need a representative who's knowledgeable and serious about fixing our state now.”

The candidate’s fiscal plan was discussed as part of a recent fundraiser held as a prelude to the general election on Nov. 8, when Drobinski faces off against incumbent Democrat State House Rep. Sam Yingling, to whom he lost by a slim margin in the same election held in 2014.

Drobinski’s recently held fundraiser garnered overwhelming support from the Lake County legal community and law enforcement.

“They know my strong track record of protecting the community as a prosecutor for almost 14 years,” Drobinski said. “It was a great turnout with a lot of energy in the room -- and it was a great way to kick off the general election campaign.”

The fundraiser was held at The Vine Martini & Wine Bar on Center Street in Grayslake. The event featured a special guest speaker, House Republican leader Jim Durkin, who has represented the 82nd District in the Illinois House of Representatives since 2006.

“As the leader of the House Republican caucus, Jim Durkin showed his support and commitment to take away Madigan's super majority in the House,” Drobinski said. “From Gov. Rauner and Mr. Durkin on down, the Republicans are united in our fight to bring fiscal accountability to Illinois.”

Durkin is a fiscal conservative and a social moderate, ideals also supported by Drobinski of Wauconda.

“Everybody says they want to sit down at the negotiating table, but it matters what side of the table you're on,” Drobinski said. “Rep. Yingling is on the side of the table that wants tax hikes to solve every problem. I'm going to push for real reform and force government to live within its means.”
