At a recent meeting, the Antioch Village Board held a public hearing on the village's plan to annex the property at 22221 W. Route 173.
The Village of Antioch board of trustees consists of six members, all of whom are elected for four-year staggered terms. The board is the legislative body of the village government. Board meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at the Village Hall, 874 Main St.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Hanson called the May 16, 2016 Public Hearing regarding a request for annexation in to theVillage of Antioch and rezoning the property from the Village of Antioch’s B-3 Business District zoningclassification for property located at 22221 w. Route 173 to order at 7:30 pm in the Municipal Building: 874Main Street, Antioch, IL.
II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Mayor and Board of Trustees led the Pledge of Allegiance.
III. ROLL CALL
Roll call indicated the following Trustees were present: Macek, Poulos, Jozwiak, Dominiak and Pierce.
Also present were Mayor Hanson, Attorney Long, Administrator Keim and Clerk Folbrick. Absent: TrusteeJohnson.
IV. PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING ANNEXATION AND REZONING OF THE PROPERTY FROM THEVILLAGE OF ANTIOCH’S B-3 BUSINESS DISTRICT ZONING FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 22221 WROUTE 173 – Clerk Folbrick read aloud the public hearing notice. Director Garrigan reviewed the request fora formal annexation and rezoning of the property which is contiguous to the Village of Antioch and hasadjacent utilities. He advised that the Planning and Zoning Board made a favorable recommendation and staffagrees that the property is consistent with the trend of development. Staff has had meetings with the applicantand their represented counsel. Director Garrigan believes there is a potential opportunity to work with otherneighboring properties after the annexation.
Trustee Pierce asked what benefits the Village receives as a part of the annexation. Director Garriganreplied that there is potential for commercial development, property taxes, and consistency with neighboringredevelopment. Director Garrigan discussed the waiver of fees for commercial development. AdministratorKeim spoke regarding the connection to sewer and water and recapture fees.
Trustee Jozwiak moved, seconded by Trustee Macek to close the public hearing regarding theannexation of property located at 22221 W. Route 173. Upon roll call, the vote was:
YES: 5: Macek, Poulos, Jozwiak, Dominiak and Pierce.
NO: 0.
ABSENT: 1: Johnson.
THE MOTION CARRIED.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further discussion, the Village Board of Trustees Public Hearing adjourned at 7:41 p.m.
