Buffalo Grove native Jordan Sheinkop, a pitcher at George Washington University (GW), has signed a contract with the Brewster (Massachusetts) Whitecaps in the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL), according to GWSports.com.
The CCBL, according to its website, has had more than 1,100 alumni go on to play for Major League Baseball teams since the CCBL's inception in 1885.
Sheinkop, a Stevenson alumnus and finance major at GW, recently completed a season with the Sag Harbor (New York) Whalers in the Hamptons Collegiate League. He pitched in eight games for the Whalers, including seven starts, and had a 2-4 record with a 3.17 earned-run average and 27 strikeouts in 34 innings.
A senior at GW, Sheinkop has appeared in 27 games for the Colonials and has a career 3-4 record, with 28 strikeouts, 80 hits, 35 walks and a 6.04 ERA in 64 1/3 innings.
