The price of local government: Village of Gurnee

The Village of Gurnee budget was $52.91 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $5,114.13 per household.

That's a decrease of 3.2 percent from 2014, when the village spent $54.65 million, or $5,282.41 per household.

Gurnee has 10,345 households and a population of 31,284.

Since 2001, the Village of Gurnee budget has fallen by 21.9 percent, from $67.78 million. The village population has grown 8.5 percent over the same period, from 28,834.

Salaries accounted for 37.5 percent of village spending in 2015. Gurnee property taxpayers paid $19.87 million for 217 full-time employees and 10 part-time employees.
