City of Highwood City Council met August 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Call to Order by Mayor Pecaro at 7:45 p.m.

1. Roll Call

Present: Mayor Pecaro, Aldermen: Grice, Falberg, Hospodarsky, Fiore, Peterson, Slavin

Also Present: City Manager Coren, City Attorney Ferolo, City Treasurer Gonzalez, City Clerk Baruffi, Administrative Assistant Litgens

2. Pledge of Allegiance

Those in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. Review of Minutes to be Approved

3.1. Moved by Alderman Fiore, seconded by Alderman Peterson to approve the City Council: July 18, 2017 minutes as presented. All present voting aye, by voice mail, motion carried.

3.2. Moved by Alderman Fiore, seconded by Alderman Peterson to approve the Committee of the Whole: July 18, 2017 minutes as presented. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

4. Appointments (Mayor Pecaro)

4.1. Moved by Alderman Fiore, seconded by Alderman Hospodarsky to approve the Mayor’s appointment of Jeff Leon-Board to the Fire and Police Commission. All present voting aye, motion carried.

Vote:

Yes: Aldermen: Fiore, Hospodarsky, Grice, Falberg, Peterson, Slavin

Mayor Pecaro stated Jeff Leon’s background will complement his capacity on the Commission.

5. Approval of Warrant List:

5.1. Moved by Alderman Fiore, seconded by Alderman Peterson to approve the 08/01/2017 AP Warrant List. All present voting aye, motion carried.

Yes: Aldermen: Fiore, Peterson, Slavin, Grice, Hopodarsky, Falberg

7. Mayor’s Report

Mayor Pecaro stated the Bloody Mary Fest was a success and busy last Sunday.

9.1. Moved by Alderman Falberg, seconded by Alderman Fiore to approve the May 2017 Treasurer ’s Report as presented. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

12.1. 17-R-29 Moved by Alderman Falberg, seconded by Alderman Fiore to authorize a Resolution Approving an ARC Application for Lighted Wall Signage and a Lighted Outdoor Seating Area (523 Bank Lane-Kings and Convicts Brewery). All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

12.2. Moved by Alderman Fiore, seconded by Alderman Falberg to authorize a Motion to Authorize the Mayor to Sign an Agreement with Hydra Electric Tattoo to License Use of the Train Station for Their Operation For an Additional Two Years. All present voting aye, motion carried.

12.3. Moved by Alderman Falberg, seconded by Alderman Slavin to amend section 5 of the ordinance. Motion carried.

Yes: Aldermen: Falberg, Hospodarsky, Peterson, Slavin

No: Aldermen: Fiore, Grice

17-O-21 Moved by Alderman Falberg, seconded by Alderman Slavin to approve an Ordinance Granting a Special Use Permit and Parking Variance For 107 Highwood Avenue, with an amendment to #5 of Section 5 of the ordinance. Motion carried.

Vote:

Yes: Aldermen: Falberg, Slavin, Hospodarsky, Peterson, Fiore

No: Alderman: Grice

12.4. Moved by Alderman Peterson, seconded by Alderman Fiore to authorize a Motion Authorizing the City Manager to Sign a Full and Final Resignation and Release and Grievance Settlement Agreement with Joseph Seinitz. All present voting aye, motion carried.

Yes: Aldermen: Peterson, Fiore, Slavin, Hospodarsky, Grice, Falberg

12.5. 17-O-22 Moved by Alderman Fiore, seconded by Alderman Peterson to waive the first reading and approve an Ordinance Amending Section 9-1A-3: Rate Categories: Charges Established of the City of Highwood City Code to Change the Water rate from $3.79 Per Unit to $3.87 Per Unit. All present voting aye, motion carried.

Yes: Aldermen: Fiore, Peterson, Slavin, Grice, Falberg, Hospodarsky

15. Adjournment Moved by Alderman Falberg, seconded by Alderman Fiore to adjourn the meeting. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried. Mayor Pecaro adjourned the meeting at 8:02 p.m.
