City of Highwood City Council met August 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Call to Order by Mayor Pecaro at 7:45 p.m.

1. Roll Call

Present: Mayor Pecaro, Aldermen: Grice, Falberg, Peterson, Slavin

Absent: Aldereman Hospodarsky

Also Present: City Manager Coren, City Attorney Jablecki, Police Chief Dave Wentz, Administrative Assistant Litjens, and Assistant City Manager Martin (recording secretary).

2. Pledge of Allegiance

Those in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. Review of Minutes to be Approved

3.1. City Council Minutes: August 01, 2017

3.2. Committee of the Whole Minutes: August 01, 2017

Moved by Alderman Grice seconded by Alderman Slavin to approve the City Council: August 1, 2017 minutes as presented. All present voting aye, by voice mail, motion carried.

4. Appointments (Mayor Pecaro) – None

5. Approval of Warrant List:

5.1. August 15, 2017 AP Warrant List

Moved by Alderman Grice, seconded by Alderman Peterson to approve the August 15, 2017 Accounts Payable Warrant List. The motion carried on the following roll call vote:

Yeas: Aldermen Fiore, Peterson, Slavin, Grice, Falberg

Nays: None

Abstain: None

Absent: Hospodarsky

No members of the public requested to address the City Council.

7. Mayor’s Report

7.1. Swearing in of Officer Jason Highland

Police Chief Wentz introduced Jason Highland a new Police Officer for the City of Highwood. Mayor Pecaro subsequently swore Officer Highland in to service. Mayor Pecaro and the Council expressed their congratulations and welcomed Officer Highland to Highwood.

12. New Business

12.1. Consideration of a Resolution Approving an ARC Application for a New Awning With Lettering (448 Sheridan Road-Doris Bridal Boutique).

Mayor Pecaro noted this items was previously discussed at the Committee of the Whole.

17-R-30 Moved by Alderman Slavin, seconded by Alderman Grice to authorize a Resolution Approving an ARC Application for New Awning with Lettering (448 Sheridan Road – Doris Bridal Boutique). All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried.

12.2. Consideration of a Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Spend up to $35,000 to Plant Trees in the Downtown, Replace Trees Removed Due to the Emerald Ash Borer, and Add Trees in Parkways to Beautify the Community.

Mayor Pecaro noted this items was previously discussed at the Committee of the Whole and the Council would be waiving competitive bid.

17-R-31 Moved by Alderman Slavin, seconded by Alderman Grice to authorize a Motion to Authorizing the City Manager to Spend up to $35,000 to Plant Trees in the Downtown, Replace Trees Removed Due to the Emerald Ash Borer, and Add Trees in Parkways to Beautify the Community, and to waive competitive bid. The motion carried on the following roll call vote:

15. Adjournment Moved by Alderman Falberg, seconded by Alderman Fiore to adjourn the meeting. All present voting aye, by voice vote, motion carried. Mayor Pecaro adjourned the meeting at 7:45 p.m.
