The calls in North Chicago included 80 fires - 34 structure fires, nine vehicle fires and 32 other fires. The fire department also responded to five calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $259,564 in fire loss - or about $3,245 per fire.
The department also received 198 false calls, including 89 malicious calls and 109 other false calls.
The North Chicago Firefighters' Pension Fun, which has 34 active employees and 39 retired or inactive employees, was $1,546,809 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $19,335 for every fire in 2016.
