Report: Waukegan spent $13,333 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Waukegan Community Unit School District 60 is down 11 percent from five years ago, according to a Lake County Gazette analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Lake County school district spent $14,941 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $13,333 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 16138 to 16478.

Waukegan's spending in 2016-17 was 3 percent higher than the state average of $12,973.
