Barrington FD responds to 18 fires in 2017

Barrington Fire Department responded to 343 calls in 2017 - 9 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Barrington included 18 fires - nine structure fires, five vehicle fires and four other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $543,750 in fire loss - or about $30,208 per fire.

The department also received 323 false calls, including five malicious calls and 318 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The Barrington Fire Department had an annual budget of $6,545,665 in 2017.

The Barrington Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 19 active employees and 33 retired or inactive employees, was $441,116 positive as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $31,508 for every fire in 2016.
