Mundelein Police Department issued the following announcement on July 13.
The Mundelein Police Department’s 21st Annual Cops ‘N’ Bobbers fishing derby takes place on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 8 a.m. to Noon at the Mundelein Seminary–1000 East Maple Avenue. Parents bring your kids ages 5 – 13 and their fishing poles and spend the morning fishing in a lake on the seminary property and having fun as a family.
The derby is a great chance for families to have an enjoyable day interacting with Mundelein Police Department officers. The lake will be stocked with sun fish and a limited amount of bait provided, participants are encouraged to bring their own. Adults will be required to have a fishing license if they are fishing.
Children under 16 are not required to have a license per the ILDNR. Adults may assist their child without a license. The ILDNR will have a few fishing poles on hand for those who do not have a pole of their own. Additionally, there will be a raffle drawing and prizes for the biggest fish, smallest fish and the most fish caught. The event is free and the first 100 children will get a free T-Shirt.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed in the Seminary so feel free to bring a picnic lunch. An adult must accompany all participants.
