Following allegations of harassment, state Rep. Nick Sauer (R-Lake Barrington) not only resigned from his House seat, but he also withdrew from the upcoming District 51 race.
Sauer is listed on the State Board of Elections website as having withdrawn from the November ballot as of Aug. 7.
This latest news comes after POLITICO obtained a copy of a complaint filed by his former girlfriend, Kate Kelly, who alleged that Sauer posted nude pictures of her on Instagram “as a ploy to lure men into online conversations," according to an Aug. 1 report in the Lake County Gazette.

Kelly filed a complaint with the state's Office of the Legislative Inspector General Julie Porter and the Chicago Police.
A one-term representative, Sauer served on the House Sexual Discrimination and Harassment Taskforce, in addition to backing traditional Republican themes like term limits and government accountability.
“The allegations that have come forth against Representative Nick Sauer are troubling,” House Republican Leader Jim Durkin told the Gazette when Sauer resigned his seat, adding, “we should allow the proper authorities to conduct their investigations.”
The 51st House District includes parts or all of Libertyville and Lake Zurich.
