Adam Solano views the Chicago Public School System’s (CPS) recent endorsement of Rep. Sam Yingling (D-Grayslake) as another reason to vote for Republican candidate Ken Idstein in their 62nd District race.

In an article headlined “Why would a resident and leader of Chicago mislead you to join her in voting for Yingling,” he penned for Patch.com, Solano calls attention to a letter CPS president Karen Lewis recently sent out to area residents promoting Yingling’s re-election effort.

Solano, who lost out to Idstein in the Republican primary and later joined his campaign as treasurer, thinks he knows what might be motivating Lewis.

“It means more money from the state for Chicago,” he wrote. “She supports Yingling because he will vote to send more money to the Chicago schools which means less money for our schools and our children.”

Solano also warns more money for Chicago means even higher property tax rates for Lake County area residents.

“When Sam tells you he's our property tax-cutting champion, don't believe it for a second,” Solano said. “You cannot call yourself our representative when you vote against us and increase our tax burdens.”

Finally, Solano urged residents to be wary of outside influences coming from those motivated by ulterior motives.

“No more creatures of Chicago and Springfield working against us and our schools and our community while telling us he's our champion,” he said. “No more outside influence that costs me and you time and money. Please, no more Scam Yingling.”
