Grayslake State House candidate Sam Yingling received another $18,122 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Aug. 15 and Sept. 6, state filings show.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends of Sam Yingling, the campaign committee that supports Yingling’s race against Republican Ken Idstein in the 62nd district.
This district includes parts of Avon, Fremont, Grant, Lake Villa, Warren and Wauconda.
Madigan’s contributions to Yingling came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $1,524,472 to the candidate’s campaign.
From Aug. 15 to Sept. 6, Madigan spent $2.67 million backing campaigns for 31 candidates. He's spent more than $100,000 on 12 candidates and more than $40,000 on 18.
