Village of Deer Park issued the following announcement on Sept. 14.
Village Trustee Elections April 2, 2019. The following positions will be available within the Village of Deer Park, IL, Lake & Cook Counties for the April 2, 2019 Consolidated Election:
Three (3) Trustees – Full, Four-Year Term
If you are looking for a way to be more involved in your community, consider running for Village Trustee. There are three steps to follow in order to get on the ballot and run for Trustee:
1) Pick up a candidate petition packet at the Village of Deer Park Hall or download the 2019 Candidate’s Guide from https://www.elections.il.gov/Downloads/ElectionInformation/PDF/2019CanGuide.pdf and fill out the necessary forms. If you go on-line, the forms are at the end of the 2019 Candidate’s Guide. Packets are available now at the Village Hall from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
2) Circulate your petition for candidacy. According to data provided by the Lake County Clerk’s office, a candidate running for Village Trustee for Deer Park needs a minimum of 21 signatures from registered voters living in the Village and not more than 71. Be sure to adhere to state law regarding the first day to circulate petitions.
3) Candidates must file their petition packet with the Village Clerk during the filing period. The first day to file petitions is Monday, December 10, 2018 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and the last day to file petitions at the Village Hall is Monday December 17, 2018 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Candidate names will be places on the ballot in the order in which the qualified petitions have been filed. However, if there are simultaneous filings at 8:00 a.m. on the first day (including any petitions received in the first mail of that day), a lottery will be held to determine which filer is named on the election ballot first. If there are simultaneous filings at 5:00 p.m. on the last day, a lottery will be held to determine which filer is named on the election ballot last. This lottery will be held on December 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Deer Park Village Hall in Clerk’s Office 23680 W. Cuba Rd. Deer Park, IL 60010.

Three (3) Trustees – Full, Four-Year Term.
