A political action committee opposing state Rep. Sam Yingling (D-Grayslake) says he is gaming the property tax system on his lakefront mansion.
An ad by Liberty Principles PAC plays on Yingling’s first name, using “Scam” instead of Sam, saying he pays less in property taxes for his one-acre lakefront mansion than middle income Lake County homeowners.
“Yingling can afford the highest property taxes in the nation. Can you?” the ad says. “Is it fair that Yingling gets to stay while property taxes force you and your neighbors to leave? You should stay, Yingling should go.”
The ad puts the blame on House Speaker Mike Madigan and Yingling for increasing property taxes and out-migration from Lake County and Illinois.
According to the Illinois State Board of Elections, Madigan has given Yingling $1,564,408 for his campaign this year. Meanwhile, Yingling has yet to register any campaign donations from in-district individual donors.
