Village of Lake Zurich issued the following announcement on Oct. 11.
ComEd has released new electricity supply rates effective October 2018 – May 2019. The Village’s aggregation program is still cheaper than ComEd. Unfortunately, the savings will not be as great as we had anticipated them to be.
ComEd rates were anticipated to increase 8% for this winter but have actually decreased by 0.5%. This is the result of a settlement between ComEd and the Illinois Commerce Commission that cut the costs of transmission, thus lowering ComEd rates.
The new ComEd supply rate is 7.292 cents per kWh. The Village’s aggregation program with Dynergy is locked-in at 6.701 cents per kWh until July 2020.
ComEd rates are expected to increase again next June 2019 to the mid-7¢ per kWh range.
