Admitting all the results weren’t what he wanted to see, Lake County Chairman Mark Shaw nevertheless thanked Republican voters for the support and loyalty shown to the party during the recent midterm elections.
“I want to thank each and every one of you for the extraordinary efforts you put forth as a political family to wage a hard-fought, but positive, issues-oriented campaign during this election cycle,” Shaw recently wrote in a Facebook post. “As the Lake County Republican Party Chairman, I was extremely proud to lead you in our shared mission to protect Lake County's fiscal integrity, physical security, and quality of life. Your dedication to our shared mission has truly been an inspiration to me over the past 7 months.”
Shaw expressed relief that “our wins outnumbered our losses” and that Lake County Republican officials were more able to erect what he called a larger firewall against the much heralded "blue wave" than other GOP organizations.
“We managed to maintain the same number of elected officials from Lake County representing us in the Illinois General Assembly,” he said.
