Joyce Mason led Republican Sheri Jesiel in votes cast in Zion Township for the District 61 state House race, according to the latest vote count.
Mason appeared to outpace Jesiel by a margin of 29.5 percent on Tuesday in the township.
In comparison, the 2014 winner, Democrat Loren Karner, won by a margin of 13.9 percent in that jurisdiction, beating Republican Sheri Jesiel, who received 2,020 votes to Karner's 2,672.
