McConchie named minority spokesperson for two Senate committees

State Sen. Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) has been named minority spokesperson for the Illinois Senate Appropriations II Committee.

In his new capacity, he will be the lead Republican on the panel, which supervises budget plans for K-12 and higher education.

“I look forward to helping craft a responsible balanced budget plan that addresses key needs in our state,” McConchie said in a press release. “It’s no secret that the hardworking taxpayers and businesses have been on the hook for Illinois’s past budget failures. I will continually stress the importance of financial responsibility while addressing our key needs.”

In addition, McConchie, who won re-election in November in the 26th District with 55 percent of the vote, has been appointed minority spokesperson for the Senate State Government Committee. He is also set to serve on the Public Health, Higher Education, Insurance, Labor, and Telecommunications and Info Technology committees.
