The price of local government in 2017: Village of Grayslake

The Village of Grayslake budget was $25.48 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $3,437 per household.

That's a decrease of 44.5 percent from 2016, when the village spent $45.92 million, or $6,195 per household.

Grayslake has 7,413 households and a population of 20,831.

Since 2001, the Village of Grayslake budget has fallen by 52.6 percent, from $53.79 million. The village population has grown 12.6 percent over the same period, from 18,506.

Salaries accounted for 23.8 percent of village spending in 2017. Grayslake property taxpayers paid $6.06 million for 52 full-time employees and 16 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 65 full-time employees and 15 part-time employees, and spent $4.87 million.
